The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final merit list for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (I), 2024. A total of 590 candidates have been selected for admission to the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. These candidates will join the 121st Short Service Commission Course for Men and the 35th Short Service Commission Course for Women, commencing in April 2025. The selection process, comprising a written examination conducted by UPSC and subsequent interviews by the Services Selection Board (SSB) under the Ministry of Defence, is among the most competitive and prestigious in the country.

Out of the total 590 candidates, 470 have been selected for the men’s course and 120 for the women’s course. The number of vacancies announced for the 121st Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) Course for Men stands at 275, while the 35th Short Service Commission (Non-Technical) Course for Women has 18 vacancies. The merit list also includes candidates who were previously recommended for courses at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy.

The results have brought recognition to several top-performing candidates. Among the men, Ranbir Negi, Archit Chauhan, and Devendra Sharma have secured the highest ranks, while Divya, Pranjal Nangare, and Mansi Basera have emerged as the top three among the women. Their hard work and dedication have set a benchmark for aspiring candidates aiming to join the Indian Armed Forces.

Next Steps for Selected Candidates

The results are provisional, and the Army Headquarters will verify the educational qualifications and date of birth of all candidates. Additionally, the results of medical examinations, which have not been taken into account while preparing the merit list, will play a crucial role in finalizing the candidates’ eligibility. Successful candidates will undergo rigorous training at OTA, Chennai, which will prepare them for their future roles as officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

For those who did not make the final cut, the UPSC will disclose marks and other details on its official website for a period of 30 days, starting 15 days after the announcement of the results. Non-recommended candidates can also opt for the Public Disclosure of Scores initiative to share their performance details on the portal.
