The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has postponed the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations originally scheduled for February 24, 2025. The decision was taken due to the ongoing MahaKumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, which is expected to witness a large gathering of devotees. The rescheduled date for the exams is now set for March 9, 2025.
Revised Exam ScheduleAccording to the updated UP Board date sheet 2025, the postponed exams include:
Initially, these exams were planned to be conducted in two shifts:
However, due to the anticipated heavy crowd movement for the MahaKumbh and Mahashivratri on February 26, the authorities decided to reschedule the exams. The revised UP Board exam timetable states that exams will now be held from February 28 to March 12, 2025.
The Director of Education (MO) and Chairman of the UP Board confirmed that the decision was made in response to a request dated February 18, 2025. The request raised concerns over the movement of a large number of devotees in Prayagraj, especially on February 26, the final holy bath day of the MahaKumbh. To prevent any disruption in transportation and safety concerns, the exams were postponed.
Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Secondary Education, Gulab Devi, officially announced the postponement in Lucknow. She stated that the MahaKumbh’s grand gathering in Prayagraj led to the decision, as ensuring smooth traffic flow and public safety was a priority.
