The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan has officially confirmed that the results for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Tier-I examination 2025 will be announced by December 2025. This announcement brings clarity to the waiting period for the approximately 13.5 lakh candidates who appeared for the prestigious examination.

The SSC CGL Tier-I 2025 was conducted successfully across the country between September 12 and September 26, 2025. The massive exercise was held in 126 cities, spanning 255 exam centers over 45 different shifts.

Chairman Gopalakrishnan shed light on the detailed process behind the result declaration, attributing the timeline to the comprehensive and transparent question-challenge mechanism. He explained that the sheer scale of the examination contributes to the processing time.

"The results will take some time to declare because we have a challenging process. The CGL exams were conducted in 45 parts – meaning 45 different question papers with a total of around 4,500 questions," the SSC Chairman stated in an interview with NDTV.

The commission had opened the window for raising objections against the provisional answer key from October 17 to October 19, 2025. During this period, the SSC received approximately 1,000 challenges on various questions.

With the Tier 1 result now expected by December 2025, the commission has also provided a tentative schedule for the next phase of the recruitment drive. The SSC CGL Tier 2 examination is projected to be held in January or February 2026.

This timeline allows qualified candidates sufficient time to prepare for the next tier of the selection process.

The SSC CGL 2025 recruitment aims to fill a total of 14,582 Group 'B' and Group 'C' posts across various central government ministries, departments, and organizations. The vacancy breakdown is as follows:
