In view of a heavy rain alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), all educational institutions in the Manali and Banjar subdivisions of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district will remain closed on Monday, June 30, 2025.
The closure order applies to all government and private schools, colleges, ITIs, vocational training centres, and Anganwadis. The Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of Manali and Banjar issued the directives citing safety concerns over student and staff movement during the predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The official order, issued under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, states that travel during such weather conditions could endanger the lives of students and trainees. Heads of the affected institutions have been directed to ensure strict compliance in the interest of public safety.
IMD Shimla has forecast moderate thunderstorms and rainfall between 5–15 mm per hour in Kullu, further reinforcing the need for temporary closure of educational institutions in the affected areas.
