The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has scrapped the Class 12 Business Studies examination after finding that the question paper was identical to last year's. The decision came a day after the exam was conducted on March 23, affecting nearly 30,000 commerce students across the state.
Officials confirmed that the board took action following multiple complaints from students and teachers who recognized the paper from the previous year. RBSE Secretary Kailash Chand Sharma stated that an inquiry has been initiated, and strict disciplinary measures will be taken against the responsible teacher.
"We get four to five sets of question papers ready and then choose anyone amongst them. A teacher did not put in the effort and sent last year’s question paper to the exam. We will soon take disciplinary action against the teacher who made this deliberate error," RBSE secretary Kailash Chand Sharma.
The board is now working on scheduling a re-examination, though Sharma mentioned that arranging a fresh question paper and distributing it to exam centres will require time.
Students and parents have expressed frustration over the error, calling it an unnecessary disruption during a critical academic period. RBSE has assured that the rescheduled exam will be conducted fairly and has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
