NEET PG Cutoff

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a reduction in the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. This decision, taken in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the National Medical Commission (NMC), aims to increase the number of eligible candidates for postgraduate medical courses.

The new cut-off percentiles are as follows:

  • General and EWS: 15th percentile
  • SC, ST, OBC, and PwD: 10th percentile

Previously, the cut-off percentiles were significantly higher: 50th for unreserved categories, 45th for PwD categories, and 40th for reserved category students.

This is not the first time the NEET PG cut-off has been lowered. In 2022, the cut-off for general category candidates was reduced from 50th to 35th percentile. Similar reductions were implemented for other categories as well. Last year, the NEET PG qualifying percentile was brought down to zero across all categories.

The MCC statement emphasised that these changes were made to ensure a fair and inclusive selection process for postgraduate medical education.
