Nagaland University, the only Central University in the state, is set to introduce a new Undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences from the academic year 2025-26. This initiative aims to enhance world-class research and expand the frontiers of basic sciences, covering a broad spectrum from material sciences to life sciences.
The university also plans to establish a Multidisciplinary Research Centre, which will facilitate more programs in Basic Sciences, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The policy emphasizes higher education's role in fostering human and societal well-being and advancing India as a democratic, just, and culturally enriched nation.
Initially, the Multidisciplinary Research Centre will offer three-year and four-year undergraduate programs in the following disciplines:

The new program aims to equip students with a well-rounded education across arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences while allowing for specialization in major and minor disciplines.
