Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Leh district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions for two days as a precautionary measure.
Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhdeva issued a directive on Friday stating that both government and private schools in the Leh district will remain closed on May 9 and 10 due to the current security situation. "This decision has been taken in view of the prevailing circumstances," the official statement read.
The move comes a day after Indian defence forces thwarted a major strike attempt by the Pakistani military, which allegedly targeted several strategic locations including Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur using drones and missiles.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity or emergencies by dialling 112. The district administration continues to monitor the situation closely and has appealed to the public to cooperate with security advisories.
