Kashmir Schools Summer Holiday 2025: All government and private schools across the Kashmir division will observe a 15-day summer vacation starting today, June 23, in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions in the region.
Announcing the decision, Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the intense rise in temperatures has made it difficult for students to attend classes. "Due to the unbearable weather conditions, we have decided to commence the summer break earlier than initially planned,” she said.
The minister added that the government had earlier proposed the vacation period from July 1 to July 10, but the heatwave has prompted the administration to extend the duration and prepone the start of the holidays. “Keeping student well-being in mind, the summer vacation will now span 15 days from June 23,” she confirmed.
Itoo also mentioned that the situation will be reviewed once the vacation period concludes. If the harsh weather persists, the government will consider extending the break further.
Prior to this announcement, the education department had revised school timings as a precautionary measure. Schools within Srinagar municipality limits were directed to operate from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, while those outside the municipal area were scheduled from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
