The Karnataka Department of School Education will begin the Right to Education (RTE) admissions for the academic year 2025-26 today, April 15. Parents and guardians can apply online through the official portal at schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in.

The state government released the RTE admission guidelines on March 25, 2025, followed by the preliminary list of eligible government, aided, and unaided schools on March 28. Objections regarding neighborhood schools had to be submitted by April 4, after which the final list of schools and available seats will be published.

To assist applicants, the department opened a trial registration window from April 9 to April 11, allowing parents to familiarize themselves with the online process before the official commencement.

Important Schedule

  • Online Application Period: April 15 – May 12, 2025
  • EID Verification: April 16 – May 14, 2025
  • Special Category Scrutiny: April 16 – May 14, 2025
  • Final Lottery List Publication: May 17, 2025
  • First Round of Seat Allotment: May 21, 2025

Age Criteria

LKG Admission: Children must be between 4 and 6 years old.

Class 1 Admission: Applicants should be 6 to 8 years of age.

How to apply for RTE Karnataka Admission 2025?

Step 1. Visit the official website at schooleducation.karnataka.gov.in.

Step 2. Click on "RTE Application Submission" under the latest updates.

Step 3. Fill in the required details accurately.

Step 4. Submit the form (no document upload required at this stage).

Required Documents

Parents must produce the following documents during admission:

  • Birth certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Income certificate (for economically weaker sections)
  • Medical certificates (for special needs or HIV-affected children)
  • Farmer suicide assistance certificate (if applicable)

Under the RTE Act, 25% of seats in private unaided schools are reserved for disadvantaged groups. The Karnataka government has urged eligible families to complete their applications before the May 12 deadline to avoid last-minute delays.
