JEE Mains 2026: NTA releases crucial notice on document preparation for applicants - check here

Candidates preparing for JEE Main 2026 should immediately begin updating their Aadhaar, category and UDID cards to ensure a smooth application process, as per the latest NTA advisory.

September 30, 2025 / 10:26 IST

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important notice for the upcoming Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. The notice primarily focuses on the essential document preparation required from candidates before they begin the application process, aiming to prevent last-minute discrepancies and application rejections.

The NTA confirmed that JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two sessions: Session 1 in January 2026 and Session 2 in April 2026. As per the schedule, the online application window for the first session is expected to open on the official website, https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/, in October 2025.

Pre-Application Document Checklist

To "streamline the process," the NTA has advised all eligible candidates to proactively update and validate the following critical documents well in advance:

Aadhaar Card: The Aadhaar card must be meticulously updated with the candidate's correct name, date of birth (exactly as it appears on the Class 10th certificate), latest photograph, current address, and father's name. Any mismatch can lead to complications.

Category Certificate (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL): Candidates applying under reserved categories must possess a valid and updated category certificate. The NTA emphasizes that the certificate should be current and comply with the latest government norms to avoid disqualification.

UDID Card (for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities): Candidates with disabilities must ensure their Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card is valid, updated, and renewed if necessary. This is mandatory for availing the concessions and facilities provided during the examination.

This proactive notice from the NTA highlights the importance of documentation in the highly competitive exam process. By addressing potential issues like mismatched personal details or expired certificates now, candidates can avoid the stress and technical rejections that often occur during the critical application phase in October 2025.

With the exam dates officially outlined, aspirants now have a clear timeline to structure their preparation and administrative tasks. The key takeaway is to not wait until the last moment for document verification.
