The Jharkhand Class 10 Science and Hindi question paper has allegedly been leaked, prompting efforts to cancel the exam, according to Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) officials, as reported by ETV Bharat.
The controversy unfolded when the JAC chairman, Natwa Hansda, revealed that the question paper packet, opened at 9:45 AM on the day of the exam, matched a version that had gone viral on social media. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Hansda stated, "As soon as the packet was opened, we compared it with the viral paper, and the leak was confirmed. Immediate steps were taken to address the situation."
A high-level meeting was convened by Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari to address the issue, and the process to cancel the exam was initiated. Hansda further added that a committee would be formed to investigate the matter thoroughly.
This incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing JAC board exams, which commenced on February 11, 2025. Earlier, on February 18, student leader Devendra Mahato had raised concerns about the alleged leak of the Hindi question paper hours before the exam. Mahato met with JAC Secretary Jayant Mishra and presented evidence of the Science paper being circulated on WhatsApp, urging immediate action.
The JAC has assured that the rescheduled exam date will be announced soon, and steps will be taken to ensure the integrity of the examination process.
Paper leaks have been a recurring problem in the state, raising questions about the security of examination materials. The formation of a high-level committee to investigate the leak is seen as a critical step toward restoring confidence in the system.
