In a historic achievement for India, two students, Banibrata Majee and Akshat Srivastava, clinched Gold Medals at the 18th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) 2025, held in Mumbai from August 11 to 21.
Representing India on the global stage, the duo competed against 300 of the world’s brightest young minds in astronomy and astrophysics. Their remarkable performance contributed to India’s overall medal tally, which includes four Golds and one Silver, reaffirming the nation’s strong presence in international science competitions.
The IOAA is known for its rigorous evaluation, testing participants on advanced theoretical knowledge, data analysis, and observational skills. Banibrata and Akshat’s success is a testament to their brilliance, perseverance, and dedication.
Banibrata Majee, who earlier secured All India Rank 1 in JEE Main 2025, has once again showcased his exceptional academic calibre. Akshat Srivastava, equally talented, has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of complex scientific concepts. Their achievements reflect not only individual commitment but also the personalised mentoring and academic support provided throughout their preparation.
Both students are currently enrolled at Narayana Educational Institutions.
