The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is set to host IInvenTiv 2025, a premier National Expo showcasing the latest breakthroughs in research and development from India’s top technological institutions. Scheduled for February 28 and March 1, 2025, the event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The expo will feature R&D projects from IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs, and other leading engineering institutes ranking among the top 50 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). With over 300 exhibits, including those from startups born out of academic research, the event aims to foster stronger industry-academia collaboration and promote commercialization of innovative technologies.

Focus on Commercialization-Ready Technologies

This year, special attention will be given to technologies in advanced Technology Readiness Levels (TRL 7-9), which are ready for commercialization. These innovations will be showcased to potential industry partners, with an opportunity for technology transfer during the event itself.

Inauguration and Highlights

The event will be inaugurated by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the IIT Madras campus. Dignitaries from industry, academia, and government will be present to witness the cutting-edge advancements being displayed.

The thematic areas covered in IInvenTiv 2025 include:

  • AI/ML Technologies
  • Aviation, Defence, and Space
  • Marine Technology
  • Medical and Healthcare Engineering
  • Rural Technology
  • Smart Cities and Infrastructure
  • Advanced Manufacturing (Industry 4.0+/5.0)
  • Circularity and Sustainability (Energy and E-Mobility) IInvenTiv was launched in 2022 at IIT Delhi, initially featuring research solely from IITs. The second edition, held at IIT Hyderabad in January 2024, expanded its scope to include other leading institutions. IIT Madras now hosts the third iteration, which promises an even greater scale and diversity of innovations.

The expo will include multiple stalls displaying projects from participating institutions. Additionally, plenary talks and panel discussions will delve into thematic areas, highlighting industry needs and academic research priorities.

A unique feature of IInvenTiv 2025 is the ‘Chintan Shivir’, a brainstorming session for each thematic area. Experts from government, industry, academia, and startups will discuss R&D trends and industry requirements. Outcome papers from these sessions will be presented during the event’s closing.

A coffee table book featuring transformative technological innovations from Indian higher education institutions will also be unveiled, celebrating their significant impact on industry.
