HPBOSE Postpones Board Exams 2025 Due to Heavy Rain and Snowfall, Check Official Notice Here

HPBOSE has postponed the 2025 board exams for Classes 8 to 12 due to heavy rainfall and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. The affected exams, originally scheduled between March 4 and 8, will be rescheduled.

March 04, 2025 / 13:59 IST

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has postponed the 2025 board examinations for Classes 8 to 12 due to heavy rainfall and snowfall in several parts of the state. The exams, originally scheduled between March 4 and 8, have been deferred as adverse weather conditions have affected road connectivity in areas like Pangi in Chamba district and Lahaul-Spiti district.

HPBOSE issued an official notice stating that the decision was taken due to severe weather conditions that have damaged roads and made transportation difficult. This disruption has affected both students and exam officials, preventing the smooth conduct of the examinations. The board emphasised that the safety of students and staff remains a priority.

The notice stated, “It is notified that due to heavy rain and snowfall in the state, district Chamba, and considering the interests of students, the Board has decided to postpone the following examinations in the affected areas. Extensive damage to roads and paths in Pangi and district Lahaul and Spiti has made it difficult to conduct exams as per the schedule.”

The postponed exams include the HPBOSE Class 8 SOS Hindi exam scheduled for March 4, along with various other subjects for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. The board has assured students that the revised dates will be announced soon. Once conditions improve, the postponed exams will be conducted at designated centres.

The extreme weather conditions have severely impacted transportation routes. Roads in Pangi and Lahaul-Spiti have been blocked, preventing the delivery of essential exam materials, including question papers and answer sheets. As a result, the board decided to reschedule the exams to ensure a fair and smooth examination process.

The HPBOSE board has clarified that the examinations will proceed as per schedule in the rest of the state. Only students in the affected regions will have to wait for new dates. This year, approximately 1.95 lakh students are expected to appear for the Class 10 and 12 board exams across 2,300 examination centres.

Students are advised to regularly check the official HPBOSE website for updates regarding the new exam schedule.
