Rohit Kumar worked at a small mobile cover stall in Jamshedpur. Every day, he arranged phone cases while studying from old textbooks hidden under the counter. Between customers, he would read about biology and chemistry, holding onto a big dream in his heart.
Life wasn't easy. His family didn't have much money. People probably thought he was just another street vendor. They didn't know he was studying to become a doctor. Sometimes, even relatives made fun of his dream. They asked if he would write the prices of mobile covers on his exam paper. Those words hurt, but Rohit didn't quit. He just worked harder.
His "study hall" was his street corner. His "study time" was late at night, after a long day of work. While others slept, he was learning. While others relaxed, he was pushing forward.
Then, bad luck hit. His mother got sick and needed surgery. Later, he got sick himself just before the big exam. It felt like the world was trying to stop him. But Rohit had come too far to give up.
The wait was finally over. Rohit Kumar, once a mobile cover seller, had cleared the NEET exam with 549 marks out of 720, securing an All India Rank of 12,484.
Today, Rohit Kumar is not just a mobile cover seller, he is a future doctor. His story is a powerful reminder that where you start does not determine where you can go. With hard work, self-belief and relentless effort, even the most ambitious dreams can become a reality.
He hopes his journey will inspire other young people to chase their goals, no matter how impossible they may seem.
As Rohit says, "It’s not about your circumstances. It’s about your courage and willingness to keep going."
