RTE Admission 2025

The admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act has commenced in private schools across Gujarat for students from economically weaker sections to secure quality education. The process will continue until March 12, 2025. In Ahmedabad alone, approximately 1,300 private schools are offering 14,778 seats under the RTE quota.

The RTE Act mandates that 25% of seats in private schools be reserved for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.5 lakh are eligible to apply under this scheme. The Directorate of Primary Education oversees the admission process annually, ensuring that deserving students gain access to education in private institutions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Families must meet the income threshold of Rs 1.5 lakh per annum.
  • Parents must provide valid income certificates and other required documents.

Strict Measures Against Fraudulent Admissions

In recent years, the RTE admission process has been marred by cases of fraudulent applications. For instance, in 2023, 200 students in Ahmedabad lost their admissions after being found ineligible due to fake income certificates. To curb such malpractices, the District Education Department has implemented stringent measures:

  • Document Verification: Parents submitting Income Tax Returns must ensure their financial documents are accurate and valid.
  • Legal Consequences: Those found submitting forged documents will face admission cancellations and potential legal action.

Advisory for Parents

  • Beware of Fraudsters: Parents are cautioned against agents or cyber cafe operators promising guaranteed admissions in exchange for money.
  • Transparency: Ensure all documents are genuine and accurately reflect the family's financial status.

For more updates and detailed guidelines, parents can visit the official Directorate of Primary Education website or contact their local District Education Office.
