The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 today, March 19. Candidates who appeared for the examination can access their scores on the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

No, IIT Roorkee has not declared the GATE 2025 result so far.

Each GATE 2025 paper is conducted for a total of 100 marks. This includes a General Aptitude (GA) section carrying 15 marks, while the remaining 85 marks are assigned to subject-specific questions based on the candidate’s chosen discipline.

Once the answers are evaluated, a candidate's actual (raw) marks are used to determine their GATE score. For test papers conducted in multiple sessions, the raw marks are adjusted to normalized marks to account for variations in difficulty across sessions. The final GATE score is then computed using either the raw marks (for single-session papers) or the normalized marks (for multi-session papers), considering the qualifying criteria.

The provisional answer key was made available on February 27, 2025, giving candidates the chance to review their answers and raise objections until March 1, 2025. The final answer key, along with the results, will be published on the official website.

Each GATE 2025 paper consists of 65 questions, totaling 100 marks. Among these, 10 questions worth 15 marks are dedicated to General Aptitude (GA), designed to assess candidates' language and analytical abilities.

For subjects including AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, GE, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, and TF, the General Aptitude section accounts for 15 marks, while the remaining 85 marks cover the subject syllabus. Within this, Engineering Mathematics holds a weightage of 13 marks.

In the XE paper, Engineering Mathematics (XE-A) is a mandatory section, carrying 15 marks.

For AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL papers, General Aptitude contributes 15 marks, while the remaining 85 marks focus on the respective subject content.

The GATE 2025 scorecard will remain valid for three years. During this period, candidates can use their scores to apply for higher education programs or job opportunities in various sectors, including PSUs.

Qualifying in GATE examination does not guarantee admission, scholarship, or a job. Admission to any institute is fully dependent on the admitting institute's criteria for educational qualification. GATE qualification does not assure a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) job, as it depends on the recruitment procedure of the concerned PSU. After the declaration of results, GATE 2025 Scorecards of the qualified candidates can be downloaded free of cost between 28th March 2025 to 31st May 2025 from the GATE 2025 website. It is highly recommended that a softcopy of the scorecard is safely stored by the candidate for all the future uses.

In case, GATE qualified candidates require the softcopy of their GATE Scorecard after 31st May 2025 and till 31st December 2025, they must pay a fee of ₹ 500 (Rupees five hundred only) per test paper for obtaining the same. From 1st January 2026 onwards, no scorecard will be issued for GATE 2025 qualified candidates.
