GATE 2026 Examination Schedule

As per the official schedule released earlier, IIT Guwahati will conduct GATE 2026 across four days in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode:

  • Exam Dates: February 7, February 8, February 14, and February 15, 2026.
  • Conducting Body: IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with IISc Bengaluru and all IITs, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Ministry of Education.
  • Papers Offered: 30 subject papers.
  • Exam Pattern: Each paper is for 100 marks—15 marks for General Aptitude (common) and 85 marks for the subject-specific syllabus.

Alongside the admit card release, IIT Guwahati has already activated the official mock test links on its portal. Aspirants are strongly advised to attempt these mock tests to familiarize themselves with the actual exam interface, navigation, and the types of questions asked. This practice is crucial for time management and reducing exam-day anxiety.

GATE is a premier, national-level examination that evaluates candidates' comprehensive understanding of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Sciences, Architecture, Humanities, and Commerce. A valid GATE 2026 score is essential for:

  • Admission to ME, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs at IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, and other prestigious institutions.
  • Recruitment in leading Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) like BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, and NTPC.

For all future updates, candidates should rely only on the official GATE 2026 website (gate2026.iitg.ac.in) and avoid unofficial sources.
