The UGC, India's apex body for higher education, routinely updates this list to crack down on entities operating without the proper authorization, rights, or affiliations as per the UGC Act, 1956. Use the UGC CARE Portal: The UGC Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (CARE) portal provides crucial information on recognized institutions.
Look for the Right to Confer Degrees: Only universities included in the list maintained by UGC under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act have the right to award degrees. Deemed-to-be-Universities, Central/State Universities, and Private Universities established by State Acts are recognized.
