  • Chhoti Diwali: October 19, 2025
  • Diwali: October 20, 2025

Region-Wise Diwali Holiday Schedule for Delhi NCR

Here’s a breakdown of the announced and anticipated school closures in the Delhi NCR region.

Diwali School Holidays in Delhi

Schools in the capital are expected to observe an extended holiday period. While the main Diwali break is likely to run from October 19 to October 23, 2025, many institutions are closing for a longer duration.

Prominent schools like Delhi Public School (DPS), RK Puram, have reportedly announced holidays that extend through the Chhath Puja celebrations, with classes potentially resuming after October 28, 2025. Parents are advised to watch for official circulars from their children's schools.

Diwali School Holidays in Gurugram & Haryana

In Haryana, a substantial Diwali vacation is on the cards. Most schools across the state will be closed from October 17 to October 23, 2025.

For Gurugram specifically, the break could be even longer. Many private schools in the district are planning holidays from October 17 to October 26, 2025, offering students a full week-and-a-half to enjoy the festivities with family.

Diwali School Holidays in Noida, Ghaziabad & Uttar Pradesh

Following the directive from the Uttar Pradesh Education Department, schools in Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of UP will observe Diwali holidays from October 20 to October 23, 2025.

Coupled with the Sunday on October 19, this provides students with a five-day continuous break to celebrate Diwali and Bhai Dooj.

The main closure period across most of Delhi NCR will be from October 19 to October 23, 2025.

Extensions are common, especially in private schools in Gurugram and Delhi, where holidays may merge with weekends and other festivals like Chhath Puja.

The final and most accurate dates will always be provided in the official holiday notice from your child's school administration. Checking the school's website or parent communication portal is highly recommended.
