The Delhi government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. According to an official notification issued by the General Administration Department, all government offices, autonomous bodies, and public undertakings under the Delhi government will remain closed.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena announced the decision through an official circular. The notification also stated that the restricted holiday for Guru Ravidas Jayanti, which was earlier declared in November 2024, has now been cancelled in favour of this full public holiday.
Schools and Educational Institutions
All government schools in Delhi will remain closed on Wednesday, February 12. However, there is no official confirmation yet regarding whether private schools and educational institutions will also be closed.

Significance of Guru Ravidas Jayanti
Guru Ravidas Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, a 15th-century saint and poet known for his contributions to the Bhakti movement. His teachings focused on equality and social justice. The day is observed with religious processions, devotional songs, and community gatherings, particularly in northern India.
Essential services and departments required for critical functions are expected to operate as per standard holiday protocols. Guru Ravidas Jayanti is traditionally celebrated in several states, including Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab. Residents of Delhi are encouraged to take part in the festivities and honour the legacy of Guru Ravidas, whose teachings continue to inspire many across the country.
