Private schools across Delhi have released the second selection list for nursery admissions for the 2026–27 academic session. However, many children remain on the waiting list, and parents are now looking ahead to the final admission list scheduled to be published on March 5.

On February 9, more than 1,700 private schools made their second merit lists and waiting lists available. With several schools reporting long waiting lists, a significant number of admissions are expected to be confirmed only in the final round.

Parents whose children have been selected in this round must visit the respective schools between February 10 and February 16 to complete the admission formalities.

Some schools have reported a high number of selected candidates. Sovereign School in Rohini selected 409 children, while Gita Ratan School, also in Rohini, admitted 136 students. St George’s School in Alaknanda confirmed 155 admissions, and Loreto Convent School in Delhi Cantonment shortlisted 11 candidates.

According to official information, Delhi Public School, East of Kailash selected 14 children and placed 132 applicants on the waiting list. Apeejay School in Saket confirmed admission for 150 students and kept 176 applicants on hold.

As per the revised admission guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE), the foundational stage covers nursery, kindergarten (KG), and Class 1. For the 2026–27 session, children must be at least three years old for nursery, four years for KG, and five years for Class 1 as of March 31, 2026. Schools may allow an age relaxation of up to one month based on the decision of the school head.

Admissions were carried out using criteria such as distance from the school, sibling preference, and alumni status. Student details were uploaded on January 9, and the points awarded to each applicant were published on January 16.

The admission process will conclude on March 19. A district-level monitoring team has been formed to ensure that schools follow all guidelines and to address complaints from parents.

The department has also stated that if a draw of lots is required, it must be conducted in the presence of parents and recorded on video to maintain transparency. Schools are permitted to charge only a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 25. They are not allowed to collect donations or compel parents to purchase a prospectus.
