As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, scheduled for February 5, 2025, the question of whether schools in the capital will remain closed on polling day has been a topic of discussion among parents, students, and teachers. With the election just around the corner, the Delhi government and education department are expected to issue an official announcement soon regarding school closures.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has already declared a holiday for all central government offices, shops, and industries in Delhi on February 5 to ensure that residents can exercise their right to vote without hindrance. This move is part of the government’s efforts to encourage maximum voter participation in the democratic process.

While the holiday applies to government offices and businesses, educational institutions often face a different set of considerations. Schools designated as polling stations typically declare a holiday on Election Day, and in some cases, the day before as well.
