The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to postpone the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programmes (CUET-UG) 2025 scheduled to take place from May 8. Sources indicate that the NTA has already informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) about its inability to conduct the examination as per the previously announced schedule.
A crucial meeting between the NTA and UGC is scheduled for today to decide on the new exam dates. A formal announcement is likely to follow soon after the meeting.
The delay in issuing a confirmed exam schedule has left lakhs of CUET aspirants in a state of uncertainty. Candidates are still waiting for their exam city slips and a clear timetable, even as the exam window approaches.
This year, CUET UG 2025 will be conducted entirely in computer-based test (CBT) mode across all 37 subjects. Each subject paper will be of 60 minutes duration and will include 50 multiple-choice questions. The exam will be held in two to three shifts per day, depending on the availability of centres.
Unlike previous editions, the NTA has not released a formal date sheet this time. Instead, exam details are expected to be communicated through city intimation slips. These slips will specify the candidate’s exam city and may also provide subject-wise dates, adding to the anxiety of students and parents who are still waiting to make travel and accommodation plans.
CUET UG 2025 will be conducted in 13 Indian languages — English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. While there is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam, candidates must meet the specific eligibility criteria prescribed by the universities or institutions they are applying to.
Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CUET UG website and read the information bulletin thoroughly for instructions and updates.
