The first official Civil Services Day was celebrated on April 21, 2006, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, and has since become an annual tradition.

- Effective implementation of priority government schemes
- Innovative governance practices
- Individual Civil Servants – Rs. 1 lakh, a medal, and a scroll.
- Group Awards – Up to Rs. 5 lakh (maximum Rs. 1 lakh per person).
- Organizational Awards – Rs. 5 lakh.
This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will confer the awards and release e-books on Holistic Development and Innovations, showcasing success stories of various government initiatives. A documentary on award-winning projects will also be screened.
