The Chandigarh Administration has announced a revision of school timings for all government, government-aided, and recognised private schools due to the ongoing cold weather and dense fog. These changes are aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students during this harsh winter season.
The weather in Chandigarh has turned particularly cold, with the minimum temperature recorded at 9 Degree Celsius on January 4, 2025. The thick fog and chilly mornings have made it difficult for students to attend school early in the day. In response, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to adjust school timings to ensure that students are not exposed to the cold during early hours.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded a minimum temperature of 9 Degree Celsius. Dense fog has also disrupted visibility in the city, leading to cancellations of flights at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport. Flights to Mumbai and Delhi have been cancelled due to poor visibility caused by the fog.
