May 30, 2025 / 10:47 IST

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the registration process for the 2025 supplementary examinations for private candidates of Class 10 and Class 12. The registration window is open from 30 May to 17 June 2025. Students who are eligible can apply online through the official website of CBSE at cbse.gov.in.

Private candidates who appeared in the CBSE Class 10 or 12 board examinations in 2025 and were placed in the 'compartment' category are eligible to apply for the supplementary exams. In addition, private students who have already passed but wish to improve their marks in a subject can also register.

It is important to note that regular students with a compartment status must apply for the supplementary exams through their respective schools, not individually.

CBSE Supplementary Exam Schedule

CBSE has announced that the supplementary examinations for both Class 10 and Class 12 will begin on 15 July 2025. A detailed date sheet will be released later on the official website. Class 10 students can appear in a maximum of two subjects. However, Class 12 students are allowed to apply for improvement in one subject only.

How to Apply?

Private candidates can follow these steps to complete the registration:

  1. Visit the official CBSE website: cbse.gov.in.
  2. Go to the ‘Private Candidate Supplementary Examination 2025’ section.
  3. Fill in all required personal and academic details.
  4. Select the subject(s) for the supplementary exam.
  5. Upload necessary documents and a passport-sized photograph.
  6. Pay the application fee using the available payment options.
  7. Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Applicants are advised to double-check the information they enter, especially subject selection and personal details, as no corrections will be allowed after the form is submitted.

Admit Card Release Date

Admit cards for the supplementary exams are expected to be made available in the first week of July 2025. Students are advised to keep checking the official CBSE website for updates, including the release of the date sheet and admit cards.
