The CBSE has clarified that open book exams will not be introduced, and there is no reduction in the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12. For the 2025 board exams, the only update is the subject-wise marks distribution. Each subject will carry a maximum of 100 marks, divided primarily between theory and the rest allocated for practicals, internal assessments, and projects.

In an earlier notice, CBSE announced that around 44 lakh students are expected to take the Class 10 and 12 board exams this year.

The CBSE Class 10 and 12 timetable for 2025 is available on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Students can visit the site to access the detailed schedule for their exams.

All exams will be conducted in a single shift, typically starting at 10:30 AM. The duration of the exams varies by subject. Key subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Business Studies will have a 3-hour duration, while vocational and specialized subjects such as Tourism and Dance will have a 2-hour duration.

For the first time, CBSE has released the date sheets nearly 86 days before the examinations. Compared to the 2024 schedule, this year’s date sheets were issued 23 days earlier, thanks to the timely submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) by schools.

Students can now access the detailed schedule on the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in. As per the announced schedule, Class 10 board exams will commence on February 15th, 2025, with English being the first subject. Along with the timetable for CBSE Class 10, the Board has announced the date sheet for Class 12 which is scheduled to start on February 15th.

• Teachers will not be away from their school for a longer time, hence, the studies of non-board classes will not be hampered.
• The schools will be able to plan well for the Board classes.
• The schools fixed as an examination centre will be having sufficient time to plan activities of their schools accordingly.

Among subject choices, 22,62,692 students took exams in Science, Mathematics, and Social Science. To facilitate the smooth conduct of these exams, CBSE utilized 7,612 centres, 94,279 exam rooms, and the assistance of 188,558 Assistant Superintendents.

In a notification addressed to principals and heads of all affiliated schools, the board announced that starting with the 2025 examinations, Class 10 and 12 board exams will only be conducted in rooms equipped with CCTV. Schools without fixed cameras will be excluded as examination venues for students.

The CBSE Class 10 exams for 2024 were conducted from February 15 to March 13 across 26 countries. A total of 2,251,812 students registered, with 2,238,827 appearing for the exams. Results were declared for 2,095,467 students, achieving an impressive pass percentage of 93.60%.

Among subject choices, 22,62,692 students took exams in Science, Mathematics, and Social Science. To facilitate the smooth conduct of these exams, CBSE utilized 7,612 centres, 94,279 exam rooms, and the assistance of 188,558 Assistant Superintendents.

The CBSE Class 12 exams were held nationwide from February 15 to April 2, 2024, in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Out of the 1,621,224 students who appeared, 1,426,420 successfully cleared the exams. Girls outshone boys with a pass percentage of 91.52%, compared to 85.12% for boys. The overall pass rate stood at 87.98%.

• English Communicative / English Language and Literature exam will be held on 15th February 2025.
• Science exam is scheduled for 20th February 2025.
• French / Sanskrit exam will take place on 22nd February 2025.
• Social Science exam is set for 25th February 2025.
• Hindi Course A / B exam will be conducted on 28th February 2025.
• Mathematics exam is scheduled for 10th March 2025.
• Information Technology exam will be held on 18th March 2025.
