Richard Liu Qiangdong, the billionaire founder of China's e-commerce giant JD.com, has become a symbol of gratitude and community spirit. Born into a family struggling financially in Guangming village, Jiangsu province, Liu's journey to success was paved by the collective support of his fellow villagers.

According to the South China Morning Post, in 1992, when Liu left for Beijing to pursue higher education at China Renmin University, the villagers rallied together, pooling their resources to fund his tuition fees. Their generosity, including contributions of 76 eggs, played a pivotal role in enabling Liu's academic pursuit.

Liu has never forgotten this act of kindness. Upon achieving immense success, he returned to his village in 2016, showering his benefactors with gratitude. He gifted each elderly villager a substantial sum, provided essential necessities like food and clothing to every family, and ensured that 1,400 families received these tokens of appreciation.

This year, Liu continued his philanthropic efforts, distributing a significant amount to all villagers over the age of 60. Overwhelmed by his generosity, the villagers expressed their deep appreciation, acknowledging that no one had ever shown such kindness towards them.

Liu himself has publicly acknowledged the crucial role his village played in his education and success, emphasizing that their support was instrumental in his journey. His story serves as an inspiring example of how acts of community solidarity can have a profound and lasting impact.
