Bihar School Holiday 2025: Classes Suspended Till Jan 12 for Students Up to Class 8 in THIS District

Due to the severe cold wave, schools in Araria district of Bihar have suspended classes for students up to Class 8 until January 12, 2025.

January 09, 2025 / 17:12 IST

In response to the ongoing severe cold wave, the authorities have announced that schools in Araria district will suspend classes for students up to Class 8 until January 12, 2025. This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of students in the face of intense winter conditions.

District Magistrate Anil Kumar issued an order mandating that all schools, including government and private institutions, pre-schools, Anganwadi centres, and coaching institutes, halt classes for students up to Class 8. The suspension, which applies to both educational and coaching activities, is effective immediately and will last until January 12.

However, classes for students in Classes 9 to 12 will continue with revised timings. These classes will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Special classes and exams for pre-board and board students are exempt from this suspension and will continue as per their schedule.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the cold wave will persist, with no immediate relief in sight. A strong Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India, which could further intensify cold weather in Bihar, especially in regions like Araria and Sheohar. The IMD also forecasts dense fog during the mornings and evenings, which will reduce visibility and increase the chill.

According to the IMD, temperatures in Bihar are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next two days, with cold conditions likely to persist until Makar Sankranti on January 14. The district administrations' actions are a precautionary step to safeguard students from the health risks associated with the extreme cold.
