As per the local media reports, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called for the immediate cancellation of Class XI examinations after reports of a question paper leak surfaced, raising serious concerns over the integrity of the examination system.
The controversy came to light when images of the leaked question papers began circulating on social media platforms, prompting swift intervention from education authorities. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to uphold fairness and transparency in examinations, urging the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) to take decisive action.
Earlier this week, the ASSEB postponed the remaining Higher Secondary (HS) First Year examinations, originally scheduled from March 24 to 29, following allegations of a protocol violation. Investigations revealed that several institutions had prematurely unsealed the Class XI Mathematics question papers before the designated exam date, leading to the leak.
State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu confirmed the cancellation, stating that further decisions would be made during an emergency board meeting on March 24.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage among students and parents, who are demanding stricter safeguards to prevent future breaches. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation and stringent action against those responsible for compromising the examination process.
