'Will die in another 5 minutes': Six bodies lying inside car, Dehradun man's last words reveal Panchkula suicide horror

Praveen Mittal was sitting on a pavement outside his car in Panchkula’s Sector 27 on Monday night. Having driven all the way from Dehradun for Bageshwar Dham’s Hanuman Katha event, a cursory glance would have meant someone taking a quick break after a long journey. Except that it wasn’t.

The 42-year-old’s last words revealed chilling details of the suicide pact that saw his family allegedly consuming poison inside the car. None of them – two elderly parents, wife in her 40s, and three children – could be saved. As per an NDTV report, Mittal told a passer-by that everyone was dead and he would also die in “five minutes.” He was also rushed to a local hospital but could not be saved.

Puneet Rana, the eyewitness who was the last person Mittal spoke to before collapsing, revealed that he saw the children lying motionless in the car.  Mittal told Rana that he was battling a huge loan from bank and none of the relatives helped the family. While Rana called the cops, Mittal collapsed and was declared brought dead at a nearby hospital.

While police are probing the deaths, initial probe reveals that the family allegedly ended their lives by suicides due to financial troubles. Out for an evening walk, locals spotted the car and quizzed Mittal.

The NDTV report added that Mittal talked about his family’s trip from Dehradun for the Hanuman Katha. Panchkula DCP Himadri Kaushik confirmed that the suicide note has been recovered from the crime scene and forensic evidence are being collected. A police team has also been sent to Uttarakhand to connect with the kin.
