Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has questioned the BJP over the forced closure of a KFC outlet in Ghaziabad by right-wing fringe group. The moment of chaos at the KFC outlet located in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram has gone viral. Yadav took to X and posted the video with a message, “who brought KFC (KFC ko kaun laya).”
The query was targeted at the BJP, which was in power back in 1999 in the NDA coalition government at Centre when the popular American fast-food giant made re—entry in India.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of members of the Hindu Raksha Dal (HRD) staged a protest outside a KFC outlet in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram area, chanting slogans such as “Jai Shree Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev.” The group demanded that non-vegetarian food not be served during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra and the holy month of Shravan.

Videos circulating on social media showed HRD members forcefully pulling down the outlet’s shutter, while another clip captured them entering the restaurant and urging staff to either shut down operations or serve only vegetarian food during the period.
Pinky Chaudhary, the group’s chief, stated, “Our message is clear. We are calling on all non-vegetarian food outlets to stop serving such items during the Kanwar Yatra. If they want to stay open, they should serve vegetarian food only.”
Responding to the incident, DCP Trans-Hindon Nimish Patil said that Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) — which deals with maintaining public order — had been enforced in the district, and the protesters' actions were in violation of this provision.
Ghaziabad Police has registered a suo motu FIR against 10 unidentified individuals under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobeying a lawful order issued by a public servant.
