A young man’s dangerously reckless stunt atop a moving car in South Delhi’s Saket area has drawn widespread condemnation and swift legal action after footage of the incident went viral online.

The video, shot from a nearby vehicle, shows the individual clambering onto the roof of a white hatchback as it navigates a busy road. The perilous act continues as the car halts at a traffic signal, where a young woman leans out of the window to share a kiss with the youth perched on the vehicle.

An observer in the vehicle recording the incident can be heard expressing a mixture of alarm and frustration. He estimates the boy’s age to be “maybe 20–21” and laments the profound risk he is taking. “If he dies like this, will anyone feel sad? His parents will cry saying, ‘Our Sonu didn’t even get married’,” the voice remarks, adding, “I hope he falls.”

The footage, once circulated online, prompted an immediate public outcry, with many viewers labelling the act irresponsible and calling for the Delhi Police to intervene.

Authorities responded promptly. In an official post on X, the Delhi Police confirmed that legal action had been taken. “Life is precious,” the force stated. “In the above case, the accused has been penalised under Section 179 MVA and 184 MVA.” The post urged citizens not to endanger their own or others' lives by violating traffic rules.

According to the police, the vehicle’s owner was fined for ‘Disobedience of Lawful Directions’ under Section 179 and the more serious charge of ‘Dangerous Driving’ under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Further scrutiny of the vehicle’s history, highlighted by a user in the comments on the police social media post, revealed a pattern of prior traffic offences. Reports indicated several pending challans against the car, including multiple counts of overspeeding, a penalty for improper parking and a charge for driving without a seat belt or carrying an unrestrained passenger.
