Following the collapse of a section of the Gambhira bridge near Padra in Vadodara, the district administration constructed a brick wall on the approach road to the bridge on the Padra side, The Times of India reported. However, in a blunder that has been described as "slapstick comedy", two vehicles - a tempo and a pick-up van - became trapped behind this hastily built wall.

To prevent vehicles from accidentally using the now-defunct bridge, the roads and buildings (R&B) department constructed a solid three-foot-high brick wall on Sunday.

As per the report, all was going well—except for one small detail: the officials forgot that two vehicles, meant to support the rescue operation, and a mast light were still on the wrong side of the wall. As per the report, locals tried to alert officials during the construction of the wall, but by the time anyone paid attention, the wall was built.

"This is a perfect example of how our administration functions—even after a major tragedy," a local villager was quoted by TOI as saying. Now, as per the report, the administration will have to tear down their newly built wall, rescue their vehicles, and rebuild the barrier. As for the other side of the bridge, officials plan to build a similar wall.
