A 75-year-old man named Sangruram married a woman less than half his age, hoping for companionship after a year of living alone. Tragically, he was found dead the morning after his wedding in Jaunpur’s Kuchhmuchh village in Uttar Pradesh, NDTV reported.
Sangruram had lost his first wife a year ago and had been living by himself since, with no children. He supported himself through farming.
Despite advice from family members against remarriage, he chose to marry 35-year-old Manbhavati from the Jalalpur area on Monday. The couple first registered their marriage at the local court and later performed traditional rituals at a nearby temple.
Speaking after the ceremony, Manbhavati said her husband had assured her that while she would handle household responsibilities, he would "take care of the children." She added that they had spent much of the wedding night talking.
However, by the next morning, Sangruram’s health suddenly worsened. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The sudden death has triggered speculation in the village. While some residents describe it as a natural turn of events, others believe the circumstances are suspicious.
Relatives, including nephews from Delhi, have paused funeral arrangements, insisting on being present before the cremation. Locals are also questioning whether the police will investigate or if a post-mortem will be conducted to clarify the cause of death.
