Truck driver kidnaps mentally challenged woman in Odisha, caught on cam

A truck driver kidnapped a mentally-challenged woman from a building near the highway in Odisha’s Bhadrak. The incident was caught on a roadside CCTV.

The kidnapping incident has sparked outrage over the brazen manner in which she was abducted, according to a report by NDTV.

The driver could be seen running towards the woman amid bright streetlights with some vehicles passing by. He then restrained her against a pillar. The driver then pick her up and took her to his vehicle before driving away.

 

According to the police cited by PTI, the woman had been living at the verandah of a shop near the police outpost at Charampa along NH 16, after she had taken shelter there on Thursday night, as it was raining heavily.

Speaking about the incident, Assistant SP of Bhadrak Abhisek Apurba Behera said a search is underway for the woman and the truck driver, according to a report by News18.
