Women from the Muslim community in Bhopal came out in support of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 on Wednesday morning.

The Muslim women took to the streets near Hatai Kheda Dam in Anandpura Kokta to express their gratitude to PM Modi. Holding roses and posters with PM Modi's picture, they thanked the Prime Minister: "Modi ji, keep fighting, we are with you."

BJP's Madhya Pradesh spokesperson Narendra Saluja posted a video on X, which showed them celebrating with drum beats, dancing and fireworks. Enthusiastic youths chanted slogans in support of the PM: "Long live Narendra Modi!"

The Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday, which aims to amend the Waqf Act of 1995.

The Waqf Act of 1995, enacted to regulate Waqf properties, has long been criticised for issues such as mismanagement, corruption, and encroachments.

The BJP and Congress have issued whips to their MPs to ensure their presence in the House. With the parties in the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the Opposition INDIA bloc showing no signs of bipartisan consensus building, the outcomes may be decided on the majority numbers on the floor.
