The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Telangana on Thursday, forecasting the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the state, news agency ANI reported.
K Nagaratna, Director of the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, shared the update on Wednesday, noting that current weather patterns suggest a monsoon trough stretching from a well-marked low-pressure area over Northwest Rajasthan to Southwest Bihar.
"At present, the synoptic situation indicates that there is a monsoon trough extending from a well-marked low-pressure area of North West Rajasthan to South West Bihar and under its influence, Telangana during the next two to three days is likely to have light to moderate rains in one or two places,” ANI quoted Nagaratna as saying.
According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, some districts may experience more intense weather. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy. Additionally, strong surface winds are expected to sweep across all 33 districts of Telangana, which may lead to minor disruptions in daily life and local travel.
The department has also issued a thunderstorm warning for 22 districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, and several others. These areas are likely to witness short spells of lightning, gusty winds, and brief but intense showers.
In Hyderabad, overcast conditions are expected to dominate the skies for the next 24 hours. Light rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are likely to occur during the evening or night. Hazy mornings are also anticipated.
The city is likely to record a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius. The IMD has advised residents to remain cautious, especially during evening commutes and outdoor activities.
