A speeding Land Rover Defender crashed into five cars and a motorcycle near Noida’s Gulshan Mall trisection under the Expressway police station area on Wednesday night. No one was seriously injured in the incident, police said.

According to the officials, the luxury SUV, registered in Uttar Pradesh, was being driven by a man named Sunit, a resident of Sector 100 in Noida. Early investigations suggest that Sunit lost control of the vehicle while trying to cross the busy intersection at high speed.

As soon as the police received information, a team from the Expressway Police Station reached the spot and detained the driver. “The accused driver, Sunit, was taken into custody from the scene. Though no serious injuries were reported, several vehicles were damaged,” an officer was quoted by TOI as saying.

The Land Rover carried a VVIP number plate with the digits “1111”. @MdRaza_Police confirmed that Sunit underwent a detailed medical test to check if he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as frightening, saying the SUV hit one vehicle after another before finally stopping. Traffic in the area was briefly affected due to the pile-up, but normal movement resumed within an hour.
