A video of a heated argument between two women at a Namma Metro station in Bengaluru has gone viral on social media. The clip shows the women clashing over the use of the local language, Kannada, with one woman insisting on speaking in Kannada while the other refuses and argues back in Hindi.
The exchange quickly turned noisy, drawing attention at the metro premises. The video begins near a metro ticket counter, where the two women are seen facing each other. One of them, dressed in a black burqa, is heard telling the other, “Hindi mathadri (Speak Hindi).”
She points at the other passenger, who is dressed in a saree, and says angrily, “You Chief Minister? Chal nikal (Get lost).” The argument escalates further when the woman makes an offensive remark, saying, “Aurat hai (tu) kya Siddaramaiah ki? (Are you Siddaramaiah’s woman?).”

Meanwhile, the saree-clad woman continues to stress on speaking in Kannada, repeatedly saying the word “Kannada” in response.
The video has since been widely shared on X (formerly Twitter) and other platforms. Several users are posting strong reactions. While some expressed concern over rising intolerance, others dismissed it as just another unnecessary quarrel.
One X user who shared the clip wrote, “Everyday there is a fight for Kannada & not sure why so much intolerance nowadays! The identities are so messed up here that it doesn’t qualify for outrage and a hullabaloo by language warriors. Time & energy saved.”
