An elderly man was discovered and found unconscious, tied with a piece of cloth inside a locked vehicle at the Western Gate parking area of the Taj Mahal in Agra on Thursday, according to reports.

The alarm was raised when a parking lot guard noticed a suspicious car and, upon looking inside, he found the elderly man with his hands and feet tied in an unconscious state, as per AajTak. A video captures the moment concerned bystanders, alerted by a parking guard, broke the window to free the distressed man from the car, where he appeared to be in critical condition due to the sweltering heat.

The car had a Maharashtra number plate and a ‘Maharashtra Government’ sticker, raising suspicions that the elderly man, possibly part of a tourist group, was carelessly left in the car. The man has been identified as Hariom Tandale and is the father of Mumbai resident Siddheshwar Tandale, officers were quoted by PTI as saying.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar, in comments cited by PTI, said, “Siddheshwar Tandale, a resident of Mumbai, had come to visit the Taj Mahal with his family. His elderly father, Hariom Tandale, was taken out of the car after breaking the window.”

Police suggested that the family may have left the elderly man behind while they went sightseeing. “After being removed from the car, the elderly man's condition improved,” Kumar added, as reported by PTI.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but the man’s condition reportedly stabilised quickly once outside the vehicle. According to DCP Kumar, “Currently, Siddheshwar Tandale has left with his elderly father,” PTI reported. Authorities confirmed that no complaint has been filed in relation to the incident.
