Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal is facing mounting legal trouble as Jaipur police have registered a second First Information Report (FIR) against him, this time concerning the alleged repeated rape of a minor in 2023. This development comes weeks after a similar complaint was filed in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad by a woman who accused Dayal of “exploiting” her, as reported by TOI.

Police confirmed the new FIR was registered on Wednesday under Section 64 of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), carrying a minimum sentence of 10 years, along with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The complaint, lodged on July 23, states that Dayal first assaulted the complainant, then 17, in 2023, and allegedly again at a Jaipur hotel this April whilst he was in town for Indian Premier League (IPL) duties.

According to Station House Officer Anil Kumar Jaiman of Sanganer Sadar police station, the complainant, now 19, is an aspiring cricketer who met Dayal two years ago. Indian Express noted that she told police Dayal had allegedly offered to help her cricketing career.

As TOI reported, Jaiman explained: “It is alleged that around two years ago, when the complainant was a minor, he raped her on multiple occasions after offering to help build her cricket career. This year, he contacted her again when he was in Jaipur on IPL duty, called her to his hotel and allegedly raped her there.”

Police have begun the process of recording her detailed statement, with officers highlighting that the case was registered as soon as the survivor made her complaint. Investigations are ongoing, as per TOI report.

The latest allegations arise just weeks after Dayal was booked for rape in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, following a complaint made by another woman. TOI reported that this previous case saw the complainant, who claimed to have been in a relationship with the cricketer for five years, allege that Dayal “emotionally, mentally and physically” exploited her after promising marriage. She filed her complaint via the state chief minister’s online grievance portal.

On July 6, an FIR was registered at Indirapuram police station, with the Allahabad High Court staying Dayal’s arrest in that matter on July 15; the court ordered that no coercive action should be taken before the next hearing.

The BNS and POCSO charges under the Jaipur FIR both carry severe penalties. Jaipur police, as reported by The Indian Express, confirmed that the alleged assault this year took place during the IPL, which included matches in Jaipur.
