The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday received a bomb threat, prompting immediate evacuation of courtrooms while court proceedings were proceedings were halted till lunch.
The High Court Registrar General said that police personnel and Bomb Disposal Squads from Chandigarh Police were deployed for checking the court premises. The courts are likely to resume functioning at 2 pm, according to a report by Bar and Bench.
Secretary of the Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association, Gagandeep Jammu told ANI, "We received a bomb threat. As we received the message, the lawyers and staff were asked to vacate the High Court. The court's work has been suspended until 2 pm..."
The High Court Bar Association also circulated a note that read - "An alert regarding a bomb threat at the Hon'ble High Court has been received."
"All Hon'ble members are kindly requested to remain vigilant. If any suspicious or unattended items are found within the premises, please inform the office of the High Court Bar Association, Chandigarh, immediately," it added, Live Law reported.
All members have been asked to remain vigilant.
