The Ministry of Railways is preparing to launch another Vande Bharat Express for Bihar, which will run between Purnea and Patna Junction. Known for speed and comfort, the Vande Bharat trains are designed to cut down travel time between cities and improve connectivity across regions.
At present, 150 services of these modern semi-high-speed trains are already running in different parts of the country, The Indian Express reported.
The new service will soon connect Purnia with Patna Junction. This train will be operated and maintained by the East Central Railway (ECR) zone.
With this addition, Bihar will continue to be one of the key states benefiting from the Vande Bharat project.
Currently, the state has 13 such trains, out of which eight connect the capital city, Patna, to major cities like Ranchi, Howrah, New Jalpaiguri, Lucknow, and Gorakhpur. Three more trains run on the Patna–Tatanagar route.
Alongside Vande Bharat, the poll-bound state, Bihar is also set to receive its eighth Amrit Bharat this week with a new Gaya–Delhi service.
The train (number 13697) will begin its commercial run on August 28. It will leave Gaya every Sunday and Thursday at 4.30 pm and reach Delhi the following day at noon.
The return journey (number 13698) will depart from Delhi on Mondays and Fridays at 2 pm and reach Gaya the next morning at 8.55 am.
In recent months, Bihar has seen several such launches. The Sitamarhi–Delhi Amrit Bharat started operations in August, while four Amrit Bharat trains were launched in July. Earlier in April, a Saharsa–Mumbai Amrit Bharat was introduced.
More services, including Saharsa–Amritsar, Chhapra–Delhi, and Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad, are also expected soon.
