Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Mumbai today to attend the ‘India Maritime Week 2025’ event being held at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon.
During his visit, he will address the Maritime Leaders Conclave and chair the Global Maritime CEO Forum, where global and Indian maritime leaders will discuss topics such as sustainable maritime growth, resilient supply chains, green shipping, and the blue economy.
The event, inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, aims to highlight India’s growing role in global maritime trade and innovation.
Traffic restrictions in Mumbai
In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Mumbai Traffic Police have issued traffic restrictions across parts of the western suburbs. Movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted on both northbound and southbound lanes of the Western Express Highway between 2 pm and 9 pm, officials said.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the stretch between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka during this period, as several VVIPs and dignitaries are expected to attend the conclave. The restrictions are intended to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain security in the area.
However, some exemptions will be allowed. Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines, and police vehicles can operate as usual. Traffic Police vehicles and those deployed for VIP security or official duties are also exempt from the curbs. In addition, vehicles permitted by the traffic police for operational needs will be allowed to move.
The Mumbai Traffic Police have appealed to the public to plan their travel in advance, follow diversion signs, and cooperate with on-duty officers to avoid delays.
