PM Modi enquires about gang-rape case after landing in Varanasi, directs officials to take strictest action

Upon arriving in the city, Modi first enquired about the alleged gang-rape of a young woman in his constituency and asked officials to take the strictest possible action against those involved.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Friday morning and is scheduled to launch several development projects worth Rs 3884.18 crores in the city.

This is the 50th visit of the Prime Minister to Varanasi as the Member of Parliament from the constituency. This also marks his first visit after the completion of 8 years of CM Yogi Adityanath-led government.

Upon arriving in the city, Modi first enquired about the alleged gang-rape of a young woman in his constituency and asked officials to take the strictest possible action against those involved.

Immediately after landing in Varanasi, the prime minister was briefed by the police commissioner, divisional commissioner and district magistrate on the "recent criminal rape incident in the city", according to a Uttar Pradesh government statement.
