Fresh spell of rain lashes parts of Delhi

The IMD said moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely at isolated places in Delhi-NCR

Fresh spell of rain was recorded in parts of the city on Friday afternoon. Central, South, South-East, and North Delhi were the areas that witnessed showers.

The India Meteorological Department said moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, along with gusty winds of 30–50 kmph, is very likely at isolated places in ITO, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, India Gate, Akshardham, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar and NCR.

The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is likely to settle around 35 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity at 8.30 am stood at 80 percent and a trace rainfall of 0.1 mm was recorded in the past 24 hours.

Delhi's air quality was in the satisfactory category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 98, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 to 100 "satisfactory", 101 to 200 "moderate", 201 to 300 "poor", 301 to 400 "very poor" and 401 to 500 "severe".
