A video showing a young woman dancing on top of a moving Mercedes-Benz in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar area has gone viral on social media, drawing both awe and anger from viewers.

The clip shows 24-year-old YouTuber Nazmeen Sulde performing the trendy ‘Aura Farming’ dance, also known as the ‘boat dance’, on the bonnet of the luxury car as it drives down a public road.

Originally shot on Sunday, the video sparked controversy for the stunt and the cheeky caption as well. “On my way to the 69th heartbreak with the same guy,” the caption read.

However, police later discovered that the man driving the car, identified as Al-fesh Shaikh, 24, didn’t even have a valid driving license. According to an India Today report, the driver is the boyfriend of Nazmeen Sulde, who was behind the performance, and a digital content creator with over a million subscribers on YouTube.

The incident came to the attention of police after a bystander recorded the stunt and shared it online, leading to widespread criticism and prompting traffic authorities to take action.

Though the number plate in the video was blurred, traffic police managed to identify the car using CCTV surveillance and traced it to its owner in Kharghar. The duo was detained and booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 for endangering public safety.

Reacting to the video, an X user wrote, “Now I understand why the government leaves potholes on roads,” while another called for strict punishment, saying, “Make her famous for the right reasons, fine and arrest them.”

The accused, Sulde took to Instagram to share her side of the story. In a video message, she revealed that around seven police officers came to her house at night and took her and Shaikh to the station. “We were there for five hours. An FIR was filed under eight sections. I’m feeling scared, alone, and traumatised,” she said, adding that she had never experienced anything like this before, NDTV reported.

The dance move that led to all this chaos is part of a viral trend known as ‘Aura Farming,’ made popular by 11-year-old Indonesian internet star Rayyan Arkan Dhika. Dhika shot to fame after a video showed him dancing at the tip of a long canoe during a boat festival in Riau, Indonesia. His cool attitude and unique style sparked a global sensation, with even police officers and the Singapore Navy mimicking his moves online.
